A warm, inviting waterfront interior design
for a family home

Offering an alternative to cliched coastal style, our Burraneer Bay project proves that moodier tones and cultivated textures do have a place by the sea. In this cliffside home, barefoot sophistication celebrates and enhances the easy-going Australian way of life, capturing the freshness of ocean-kissed air and sun-soaked outdoor living.

Repeat client’s of Studio aem requested a renovation that would turn a tired 1970s dwelling into a welcoming, contemporary abode that allowed for effortless entertaining and comfortable spaces for their family of four. We were engaged to provide a full-service design package for the home, taking care of interior design and decoration, from planning through to concept, documentation and sourcing furniture and fittings.

Through our interior interventions, the revised floorplan takes full advantage of the magnetic outlook, while an upper-level addition allows for convenient separation between the living and sleeping quarters. Custom-designed cabinetry, extended ceiling heights and clerestory windows form open, airy rooms that function seamlessly for busy family life.

With the finishing touch provided by our cohesive furniture and furnishing scheme, the completed interior is skillfully balanced. Refined textures, sculptural forms and a neutral palette come together to create an elevated interior that completes - and doesn’t compete with - the water views.

The spaces flow and roll effortlessly to the outdoors, creating a sea-breezy atmosphere that is beholden to the mood of the changing tides.
