THE POLAR OPPOSITE OF A STARK, GLOSSY WHITE BATHROOM
This raw and rustic space by Studio aem is a tactile treat for the senses.
“The clients preferred an aesthetic that was earthy, warm and rooted in natural tones,”
says design principal Alexandra Mason.
“They were drawn to rustic finishes and design elements that carry a sense of character and authenticity.”
As part of a larger reconfiguration, the team were able to transform the former ensuite into this expansive central main bathroom. A new doorway in the hallway provides easy access from the living areas and bedrooms, and the exposed and restored sandstone walls bring back a lovely slice of the Palm Beach home’s history.
New timber beams on the ceiling add another layer of character, while French doors and windows provide an idyllic connection to the side garden. High-quality bronze fixtures and terracotta floor tiles add a touch of refinement. Along with the sandstone wall, the owner’s favourite feature is the striking freestanding copper and tin bathtub under the window. It delivers the enviable opportunity to relax and soak in their surroundings at the end of each day.
