Studio aem was tasked with the design, decoration and procurement process for this five-bedroom home in the sought-after eastern suburb of Rose Bay, NSW.

An inviting and stylish retreat from city life

An introduction of brass and marble elements, along with lush velvets and strong, textural stones

A new build boasting strong architectural features, this property deserved an interior equal to the imposing precedent set by the exterior aesthetic. Studio aem planned, designed, furnished and decorated the bedrooms, open plan living and dining area, formal living room, rumpus and study, specifying and sourcing furniture, rugs, drapery, artwork and accessories.

By introducing brass and marble elements, along with lush velvets and strong, textural stones into the formal living area, we created an inviting and stylish retreat from the city life. A rich, deep palette and plinth stone fireplace bring a maturity to the space, perfect for enjoying a nightcap on the lavish sofa. This room was finished with the addition of some thoughtful artworks by Noah Taylor, showcased by innovative wall lights, which are sure to provoke conversation among guests.

In the intimate master bedroom, moody and emotive wallpaper panelling creates a dramatic backdrop, while the smoky hues of the soft furnishings evoke serenity and relaxation – a decidedly sophisticated, adult space to retreat to after a long day.

Design integrity was central to this project, with the clients seeking durable, ethical pieces from respected manufactures and designers. Thanks to our industry connections, Studio aem was able to source furniture and artworks which met these niche requirements, resulting in a cohesive space with the aesthetic and energy the client had dreamed of.
