The dining room is a space of endless possibilities. It’s an area to nourish our bodies and catch up on the events of the day, engage the kids in craft, or map out plans for the future – the real workhorse of any modern family home.

As the homeowners of this Newtown terrace are parents of small children, it was essential that this space could stand up to the day-to-day rigours it would witness – but it was equally important that it was bold and stylish, while retaining the whimsical charm promised by the terrace façade.

We kept the table neutral, with pared-back timber that can be styled according to taste, occasion, and use. This subtle base also allows the feature lighting to take centre stage, as it undoubtedly deserves. Bold vases and wall art were added to create interest and inspire creative conversation.

The result is a room capable of evolving with the family’s needs, which will look chic and polished whether it’s set for a dinner party, or performing double-duty as a home office or art station.
